Dear Workers at The Guilford House:
Because of all of you the Guilford House is an unbelievable, incredible place. Starting at the top, the owners are on site daily and get to know all the patients by name and condition. I think if they were asked, they would stand on their heads to make a patient happy. Once when I wasn’t able to eat the wonderful meals provided, Cal asked what I might like to try. I said “Maybe a poached egg”. He went down to the kitchen right then to cook it. Another time, I saw some root beer and mentioned it brought back memories of childhood. A short time later Cal arrived with a root beer-float for me. The nurses were pleasant, sympathetic, efficient and knowledgeable. The nurses’ aids, who have the constant care of the patients, were dedicated. If anyone gets to Heaven it will be they.
One night when I was in terrible pain, I actually prayed that Eileen would be my nurse. I loved so many of them but can’t remember all their names. There was “Precious” the girl with the beautiful hair, the girl with four children, Lynn, and all who helped me. They are God’s angels for sure. The cooks are outstanding. The gourmet meals – and such a choice was works of art, not only delicious but artfully presented. Bernadette, the hairdresser manipulated several wheel chairs in her small room, and magically beautifully fixed everyone’s hair. The housekeeping crew kept the place spotless. One lady who worked in my room daily, I called Patty Sunshine not Merry Sunshine, because she brightened the room with her happy disposition. The Therapy room was spacious with a nice view of the court yard. My therapists, Teresa, Gayle and Ginny were outstanding! Thank you all so very much. I’ll be back to see you when I get better.
Sincerely, FR
